This is such a great feature, so positive in that it is appropriate to almost anyone’s decorating tastes and/or budget. We had gray plank-esque” floors in the sunroom (an addition) of our first home, 200-year-old

I know the focus was on the floors but the opening concept is something I keep struggling with too: we need to keep our lives going so the evil doesn't win but damn it sucks to be living in a country that feels like upside down world right now. All that seems to matter to this government is power over people that simply don't matter like we use to. And we're not accustomed to not mattering, so we'll be working harder to address that lunacy. And to do that, we have to keep vibing at the higher frequencies. And surrounding ourselves with beauty and appreciating what is good as part of that. And The Velvet Chaise helps me on that front, so thanks!

yes it does suck. Do you just carry on and avoid acknowledgment of what is happening in the world, or do you break through the wall? I still don't know if comparing gray floors to a traumatized brain was the right thing to do, but it's hard to know what the right thing is in this "upside down world" as you aptly put it.

I like how you handled it. The world is upside down, let's focus on something else for the moment so we can re-energize and be strong when/where we need to be. During WWII, people still went to the movies, still celebrated birthdays, found ways to ease the emotional pressure so they could do their jobs, participate in blackouts, collect items to recycle for the war effort, etc. I know some people think these comparisons to WWII are far-fetched. I hope they are. I'm hoping for the best for our country and the rest of the world but we took a lot of granted in terms of how people are motivated, how governments behave, etc. Sorry for the long post but those grey floors were well timed.

I'm noticing that a lot of my IG contacts (mostly design, she shed, vintage decor people) are sharing posts about how they feel about what is happening. This happens very rarely. Desperate times ...

Oops I hit the button by mistake! The 200-year-old colonial we had for 30 years had gorgeous maple floors - original to the home! But in the rest of the house, we had faux flooring or carpeting. I loved the gray planks we had in our sunroom because it felt as if we were in a beachfront gazebo year ‘round, heated of course. Do gray, your way!

Yes it's all in how you do the gray! There's a reason it's popular and I bet your sunroom was beautifully decked out.
