Say “oh heyyy!” to Shed Style

Welcome to the Velvet Chaise. You won’t find a piece of furniture that is more beautiful, comforting and stylish than a well-appointed velvet chaise. I’m honored to appropriate it as the name of my new magazine.

Magazine, you say? This is Substack. That’s true, but I like to think of it as the magazine I never had.

For years I contributed to home magazines as an editor and enjoyed reading them (still do). But they were always published by someone else, and they got to call the shots on what ended up in your hands and imaginations.

Now, it’s my turn. Substack lets me compile, arrange and send out all of my best work to those who want to develop their own unique interior design triumphs.

I’m turning 15 years of writing and producing design content around she sheds and all manner of small rooms into a “Shed Style” magazine just for you. The chaise plays an important part in creating a shed-style environment, where you can relax and enjoy being surrounded by all of your favorite things. It’s not a cry to buy one; the chaise is more of a symbol, a call to lounge in peace.

All of my thoughts and ideas around shed style and creating fabulous rooms is free for now, but I hope readers will support it with a paid subscription when the time comes. It’s all up to me and I intend to provide the ideas for a beautiful space that you choose not to live without.
