We really struggled with where to put the kitty litter when we got two kittens 2 years ago. Ended up cutting a hole in a closet door, putting a little door on it, and put a "Litter Robot" and all the kitty accessories in that closet. Works great. And no unsightly litterbox (or odors).

one of the many good things about cats ... they find their kitty box in short order. Glad you solved the problem in such a neat way.
